1. Darkrai
Alright. The stuff about "no order of merit" was just crap. This guy is arguably my favourite, most-used Pokemon ever since DPP.
First off, some background information on this badass dark dude.
"Darkrai is a black, shadow-like Pokémon. It has a small head with a white fog-like ghostly plume billowing from its head covering one of its bright blue eyes to give him the "arrr mate" kinda look, with the portion on its face resembling hair of a really old woman. It also has a red spiky growth around its neck, possibly indicating throat cancer. It has skinny arms and long black tatters hanging from its shoulders further strengthen his badass looks. It also has black, claw-like hands used to rip innocent Pokemon apart. It has an amazingly sexy hourglass figure and appears to be wearing an old, ripped cloak who makes him look like the epic grim reaper." (Adapted from http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Darkrai_(Pok%C3%A9mon with severe changes to biology)
I had a really, really hard time getting this guy. All of the Pokemon events in the past were held in the US or some other faraway land which I had utterly no chance of attending. Initially, I played Pearl for a couple of years until I got Platinum. Until one fine day, my friend hacked his Diamond and gave me a Darkrai :D Yay.
Well, more to why this guy hogs the first position. It's been my main attacker and is really fantastic at the job. I frequently do a 6v6 against an old friend of mine, and this speed demon puts them to sleep and gradually sucks their life outta their dreams.
I dunno, IT JUST LOOKS REALLY COOL. And beast.
Oh, and this thing is asexual.
2. Giratina
Giratina, the big boss of the Distortion World. His land forme looks pretty much poop with fat thighs and a heavy body, but its Origin forme looks a million times cooler. It takes on a serpentine look, with six black ghostly streamers on its back with red spikes at the tips. Its legs are reduced to spikes, and four additional golden spikes appear near the edge of its tail. While in Origin Forme, the three gold half-rings can grip objects.
However, in HG/SS you need to have the event Giratina in order to change it to its Origin Forme. Griseous Orbs are non-transferable. Y U DO TIS POKEMON?!
The ultimate tank of my team with almost over 500 HP. With the legendary Shadow Force.

3. Latios
A cool blue aerodynamic Pokemon that's male-only. This dude apparently (according to biology) flies faster than a jet. It also has the highest special attack in the entire game(s) when equipped with a Soul Dew. Nuff' said.
Finally not asexual.
4. Shaymin
THIS THING IS JUST THE CUTEST.
5. Lugia
Lugia is a large Pokémon that resembles a dragon, a plesiosaur, and a bird. It is primarily pale silver-white, but it has blue undersides with slightly varying tones. It has a ridged mouth similar to a beak, although it has pointed teeth on its lower jaw. Its head has a point to the back, and Lugia’s eyes have pointed blue or black spikes on them. Lugia has a long, slender neck and a smooth, streamlined body, with the exception of dark blue or black plate-like protrusions that run down the length of its back, and two smaller ones on the ends of their tails. It can fold back these plates to increase its speed. It has large wings that resemble hands.
This basically shows how cool and strong it is. Also with that lovely Aeroblast it has.
Similarly, undergoes asexual reproduction to ensure the continuity of its species as baby/young Lugia have been spotted in the anime.
6. Typholosion
By far my favourite starter since FR/LG, past R/S/E to HG/SS. Despite Cyndaquil looking like a little midget until he gets his final evolution, this guy is totally worth it. With cool appearances of flames bursting out of his neck (throat cancer yet again) and that epic mouth of his, who wouldn't? Although sadly, I ditch my starters in some PC box after I build a main team and never ever use them unless I really have to :(
